Songs of the Summer

Every year artists are eager to have their songs bestowed with the top honor of ‘the song of the summer.’ Though it’s hard to define just what makes the perfect summer song, I know that these tracks all have a little bit of that magical ingredient that makes you want to listen to them all season long.

“Here” by Alessia Cara
The ultimate anti-party song, this slow-jam is perfect for singing out loud in the car with the windows down. The sultry-voiced Alessia Cara is definitely an artist to watch, already catching the eye of superstar Taylor Swift after Cara’s cover of “Bad Blood” went viral.

“Bad Blood (Remix)” by Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar
Any song by Taylor Swift is bound to become the song of whatever season it’s released in. “Bad Blood” is the ultimate song about friendship gone bad, and its infectious chorus is going to be playing at pool parties all summer long.

“I Know There’s Gonna be (Good Times)” by Jamie xx ft. Young Thug
Some songs have the ability to transport you back to a certain place and time when you hear them, and I can guarantee in years to come, this song will transport you back to the summer of 2015. The mix of old-school du-wop styles with a hint of dancehall and modern rapping from Young Thug makes this song perfect for every occasion. You’re going to want to play this all day, every day, and not a single person will mind.

“Where Are U Now” by Skrillex and Diplo ft. Justin Bieber
With talented producers such as Skrillex and Diplo at the helm of this, it’s no surprise that this song is catchy as heck. It’s the perfect song to bob your head to in the background while sipping some drinks on the patio.

“Bang That” by Disclosure
This sibling duo is following the success of their smash hit “Latch” with this summer dance track before hitting the festival tour this season. The high-energy song will be playing at every club you go to this summer, and it’ll be impossible to sit still once you hear it.
