It was my birthday a couple of months ago and one of the gifts that I received was the Essential Hair Care Set from HerStyler. It comes with five hair care and styling products, which I was so excited to start using!
I’ve now used all of them several times and while I wasn’t previously familiar with the brand, I’ve become a huge fan! The products in the set can be purchased individually, so if you’ve been looking to upgrade your hair routine, here’s what I thought of each one:
The Sleek Hair Shampoo and the Sleek Hair Conditioner
My hair is naturally quite wavy and often feels quite dry. I’ve found that certain shampoos and conditioners make this worse, so I was a little hesitant about using this HerStyler duo.
First up – the shampoo. It’s infused with argan oil, which is revered to be a game-changer for dry and damaged hair. Although the shampoo itself doesn’t feel oily, you can tell that the hydrating properties of argan oil really kick in once the shampoo has been rinsed off. My hair always feels incredibly silky – almost like I’ve used a conditioner instead of a shampoo!
As you can imagine, topping this off with the Sleek Hair Conditioner only enhances that feeling of softness. Again, the star ingredient in this formula is argan oil, meaning that your locks receive a double whammy of this botanical each time you use this set. I appreciate that this conditioner isn’t too thick, making it easy to distribute it through my waves. At the same time, it feels pretty rich – it gives my hair a beautifully soft and velvety finish!
The Pro Detangler Brush
Having wavy hair and living in a windy area means that tangles are a frequent occurrence for me. Up until I received this HerStyler set, I was using a small detangler brush that would fit in my palm. The Pro Detangler Brush from HerStyler is larger, with a long handle like a regular hairbrush.
The first time I tried it, I couldn’t quite believe how well it worked, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Detangling has become even easier than it used to be with my previous brush. As an added bonus, it doesn’t hurt as much either! I think this is largely down to the brush’s extended bristles. They’re able to gently but efficiently work their way through knots, without pulling at strands or causing breakages.
I love this brush so much that it’s now one I use twice a day, even when I don’t have any tangles!
The Easy Comb
I usually turn to my hair straightener once or twice a week and have always used a regular hairbrush on my locks before straightening them. The HerStyler Easy Comb is designed to replace that regular hairbrush while also making straightening safer and easier.
To use it, you simply take the section of your hair that you’re about to straighten and then, starting at your roots, you begin running the comb through it. The extra panel on the comb helps to clamp your hair in place, just like your straightener would. Then, with your other hand, you start straightening, so that your flat iron immediately follows on from the comb. This way, not only is your hair completely tangle-free when you straighten it, but you can also get the job done without having to put your hands anywhere near the flat iron plates.
HerStyler claims that this comb will give you smoother and straighter results from a flat iron, and I would have to agree. My straightened hair feels significantly silkier than when I don’t use this comb, and frizz is no longer an issue! It’s a much better straightening tool than a regular hairbrush, helping to provide a more professional-looking finish.
The Rose Gold Titanium 3P Curler
I often use curling wands to define my waves and give me structured curls, so the fact that the HerStyler Rose Gold Titanium 3P Curler came with three different barrel sizes had me excited about the variety of curls that I would be able to create with it. The exact barrel sizes are as follows:
- 9/18mm
- 18/25mm
- 25/25mm
With those different sizes to play with, this curling wand provides a huge amount of versatility. The smallest size is great for creating tight ringlets. Meanwhile, the medium is ideal for accentuating my natural curl pattern, and the large produces big, bouncy, voluminous curls. It’s also easy to swap the barrels over if you want to create more than one size of curl for your look. However, at the same time, two of the three barrels are tapered. This enables you to slightly adjust curl size without having to change barrels.
The fact that this is a curling wand, rather than a curling iron, might initially put some people off. I used to only use curling irons because the clamp that they come with makes styling so much easier. However, a couple of years ago, I gave a curling wand a try and never looked back. It requires a little more practice when it comes to manipulating your hair around the barrel. However, this is completely worth it. The finished look is much softer and more relaxed.
A few other features that I love are the two temperature settings, the negative ion technology (which leaves my curls looking less frizzy), and how quickly this curling wand cools down once it has been turned off. It’s an absolutely amazing tool for anyone who likes to experiment with curling their hair!
Final Words
All in all, I can confidently say that these HerStyler products have been the best gift that I have received in years! Between the hair care products and the hair styling tools, I use this set several times a week and my hair looks so much better for it. I plan on adding a HerStyler flat iron to my hair tool collection in the near future too – the toughest part is deciding on which one of those amazing models to go for!
